Three new regulations concerning the non-renewal of an active substance have just been published in the OJEU :
These molecules have been banned due to concerns about their genotoxicity and neurotoxicity for development.
Member States must withdraw authorisations for plant protection products containing these active substances by 16 February 2020 at the latest.
Any grace period granted by Member States for plant protection products containing these active substances shall expire on 16 April 2020 at the latest.
The regulation comes into force from 16 January 2020.
This active substance has been banned in France since 2018 along with 4 other neonicotinoids.
EFSA identified a key environmental concern with regard to the contamination of groundwater by thiacloprid metabolites but also a concern for human health, as the molecule is classified as a category 1B reproductive toxicant.
Member States must withdraw authorisations for plant protection products containing this active substance by 3 August 2020 at the latest.
Any grace period granted by Member States for plant protection products containing this active substance shall expire on 3 February 2021 at the latest.
The regulation enters into force from 3 February 2020.
