The DGCCRF conducted a survey to verify the absence of gluten and the correct use of the terms "gluten-free" or "low gluten" on products.
People suffering from celiac disease have no choice but to exclude gluten from their diet to preserve their health. It is therefore important to check the truthfulness of the regulatory statements "gluten-free" and "low gluten".
Regulation 828/2014 defines the labelling thresholds for these terms:
10% of the samples taken by the DGCCRF were found to be non-compliant.
The investigators also noted the use of other unregulated terms to meet the demand of non-coeliac consumers wishing to limit the place of gluten in their diet.
Please note that our laboratory is able to detect and quantify gluten under COFRAC accreditation (Scope N°1-1904 available on the COFRAC website).
