The Laboratory signs a new success story in the research and development of its analytical methods with the COFRAC accreditation on cosmetic allergens.
Among the major novelties of 2020, Phytocontrol continues to innovate and proposes new accredited analysis methods on allergens for finished cosmetic products and cosmetic raw materials, a first in France!
Almost all cosmetic products contain fragrances or fragrance compounds, which can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people on contact with the skin, resulting in dermatoses, eczema or asthma attacks. These allergens may be present, without any external addition, in perfumes, essential oils and their derived products.
Phytocontrol becomes the 1st accredited laboratory on cosmetic allergens in France.
According to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex III, 26 allergens are regulated. These substances must be labelled when their concentration is higher than 0.001% (10 ppm) in leave-on products and 0.01% (100 ppm) in rinse-off products. The placing on the market in the European Union of cosmetic products containing the 3 allergens Atranol, Chloroatranol and HICC will be prohibited from 23 August 2019 and the availability of cosmetic products containing them will be prohibited from 23 August 2021.
.The Phytocontrol laboratory is able to analyse and quantify 26 regulated allergens in cosmetic products by LC-MS/MS or GC-MS/MS, including 21 under COFRAC accreditation.
.This method of analysis fast (delay 3-5 days in routine) and reliable confirms the expertise of Phytocontrol in the cosmetic industry. The Laboratory thus offers a first class analytical service for allergens, pesticides and other contaminants in cosmetic products: perfumes, essential oils, creams, shower gel, soap, liniment, make-up remover, etc.
