The Phytocontrol Laboratory meets European regulations by offering an analytical service for the following species: corn, soybean, rapeseed, rice, cotton, flax, beet and potato.
This COFRAC-accredited method is based on real-time PCR technology, with the capacity to analyze all markers (BAR, FMV, P35S, PAT, Tnos and Cry1Ab/Ac) as well as known target events. It enables the detection of over 80 events, in both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
A genetically modified organism (GMO) is a living being whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These modifications often give rise to debate and concern, notably because of their implications for human health, the environment and ethical issues. The main concerns relate to potential impacts on biodiversity, food safety, allergy risks and antibiotic resistance.
GMO regulations differ from country to country. Some adopt strict rules, including mandatory labeling of products containing GMOs, while others are more flexible or have no specific regulatory framework. In the European Union, strict regulations are in place to guarantee consumers the choice of whether or not to consume GMOs. Products containing GMOs with a detection threshold of over 0.9% must be clearly labelled.
European authorizations for GMOs are valid for ten years. However, these authorizations are limited to consumption and exclude their cultivation. What's more, any product derived from GMOs must comply with labelling and traceability rules. Currently, only one GMO , MON810 maize, is authorized for cultivation in Europe.
At Phytocontrol, our expertise in molecular biology, combined with an in-depth understanding of regulations and an active technology watch, positions us as a trusted partner to support you in implementing your GMO monitoring plan, in line with French and European requirements.
We operate within the framework of the following regulations :
