Three new European regulations have just been published in the Official Journal of the European Union:
- Regulation (EU) 2018/685 of 3 May 2018 amending Annexes II, III and IV to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as regards maximum residue levels for abamectin, beer, fluopyram, fluxapyroxad, maleic hydrazide, mustard seed powder and tefluthrin in or on certain products.
This new Regulation introduces the following amendments:
Abamectin: MRL on Banana increased from 0.01 to 0.02 mg/kg.
Fluopyram: MRL on Purslane increases from 0.2 to 20mg/kg.
Fluxapyroxad: Several MRLs revised upwards in particular on grapefruit, certain root vegetables and tuber vegetables, onions, certain Brassicées, certain salads, Herbs, certain stem vegetables, Infusions and spices.
Maleic Hydrazide: MRL on potato increased from 50 to 60mg/kg, on Garlic from 15 to 40mg/kg, on Shallots from 15 to 30mg/kg and on milk from 0.05 to 0.07mg/kg.
Tefluthrin: MRL on Carrots increased from 0.05 to 0.08 mg/kg.
This text was published on 16/05/18 and will enter into force on the 20th day following its publication.
- Regulation (EU) 2018/686 of 4 May 2018 amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as regards maximum residue levels of chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos-methyl and triclopyr in or on certain products.
The following changes have been introduced:
Chlorpyrifos: Many MRLs have been revised upwards, notably on Citrus, Peaches, Plums, Strawberries, Bananas, Tomatoes, Barley, Oats, Rice, Rye, Sorghum, Wheat and Tea.
Other MRLs have been revised downwards, such as cherries, vat grapes, radishes, aubergines, coffee beans and infusions.
Chlorpyrifos-methyl: Many MRLs have been revised upwards, notably on Citrus, Pome fruits, Core fruits, Grapes, Tomatoes, Peppers, Aubergines, Barley and Oats
Other MRLs have been revised downwards, such as Strawberries, Buckwheat, Maize, Millet, Rye, Sorghum, Wheat and Infusions. The change of MRLs on Maize, Wheat, Buckwheat, Rye, Sorghum and Millet from 3 to 0.05 mg/kg represents a major change, all cereals are also assigned a specific residue definition: Sum of Chlorpyrifos-methyl and Desmethyl Chlorpyrifos-methyl.
Tricyclazole: MRLs have mainly been revised downwards, with a change in MRLs for rice from 1 to 0.3 mg/kg.
This text will be applicable on 5 December 2018.
- Regulation (EU) 2018/687 of 4 May 2018 amending Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as regards maximum residue levels for acibenzolar-S-methyl, benzovindiflupyr, bifenthrin, bixafen, chlorantraniliprole, deltamethrin, flonicamide, fluazifop-P, isofetamide, metrafenone, pendimethalin and teflubenzuron in or on certain products.
This new Regulation introduces the following amendments:
Acibenzolar-S-methyl: MRLs revised upwards on Apples, Strawberries, Cranberries, Kiwifruit, Garlic, Onions, Shallots, Lettuce and Spinach.
Benzovindiflupyr: MRLs revised upwards on Table grapes, Azeroles, Kakis, Tomatoes, Aubergines, Dried peas, Peanuts, Rapeseed, Soya and Coffee beans.
Bifenthrin: Revised upward MRLs on Table and wine grapes, Blueberries, Peas (with pods) and Shelled peas.
Bixafen: MRLs revised upwards on certain products of animal origin.
Chlorantraniliprole: MRLs revised upwards on Peanuts, Hops and certain products of animal origin.
Deltamethrin: MRL on Rapeseed increased from 0.07 to 0.2 mg/kg.
Flonicamide: MRLs revised upwards on certain products of animal origin.
Fluazifop-P: MRLs revised upwards on Strawberries, Peas without pods and Cottonseeds.
Isofetamide: MRLs revised upwards on Strawberries, Cranberries and Rapeseed.
Metrafenone: MRLs revised upwards on Apples, Pears, Quince, Neves, Apricots, Cherries, Peaches, Kakis, Tomatoes, Aubergines, Cucumbers, Courgettes, Melons, Pumpkins and Watermelons.
Pendimethalin: MRLs revised upwards on Lettuce, Asparagus and certain products of animal origin.
Teflubenzuron: MRLs revised upwards on Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Table and wine grapes, Papayas, Melons, Sunflower Seeds, Soya and Coffee.
This text enters into force on 5 June 2018.
