The Phytocontrol Laboratory is expanding its analytical offer on GM maize, soya and rapeseed by offering COFRAC accreditation for research into the following events: A2704-12, A5547-127, MON810, MON 89034 and TC1507, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
We meet regulatory requirements and offer GMO analysis using our real-time PCR technology, with the capacity to scan all markers (BAR, FMV, P35S, PAT, Tnos and Cry1Ab/Ac) and known target events, on soybean, maize, oilseed rape, rice, potato, flax and beet.
A GMO (genetically modified organism) is a living organism whose genetic material has been modified using genetic engineering techniques.
GMOs often give rise to debate and concern because of their implications for human health, the environment and ethics. Some worry about the potential effects of GMOs on biodiversity, food safety, allergies and antibiotic resistance.
Regulations concerning GMOs vary from country to country. Some countries have adopted strict regulations and impose compulsory labelling of products containing GMOs, while others have more flexible regulations or no specific regulations.
The European Union has introduced regulations to give European consumers the freedom to choose whether or not to consume GMOs, requiring products containing GMOs with a detection threshold of more than 0.9% to be specifically labelled.
Authorisations are issued for ten years, and any products obtained from these GMOs will be subject to European Union rules on labelling and traceability. The authorisations allow these GMOs to be consumed, not cultivated.
Our analytical know-how in molecular biology, combined with our perfect command of regulations and technology watch, make Phytocontrol the ideal partner to guide and support you in your GMO monitoring plan with regard to the various French and European regulations:
