Regulation (EU) 2019/1561 amending Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 was published in the OJEU on 18/09/19.
This regulation modifies the MRL for chlormequat residues in oyster mushrooms.
A temporary MRL was set at 0.9 mg/kg for sleeping fungi, as monitoring data showed the presence of chlormequat residues on untreated sleeping fungi at concentrations above the limit of determination, which may result from cross-contamination between untreated sleeping fungi and straw treated with chlormequat in a completely legal manner.
Recent monitoring data specific to oyster mushrooms indicate that residues of chlormequat are present in oyster mushrooms at concentrations above the temporary MRL for cultivated mushrooms.
It was therefore agreed to set the MRL for chlormequat for oyster mushrooms at
6 mg/kg and to maintain the existing MRL for other mushrooms at
0.9 mg/kg.
This regulation is applicable as of 08/10/2019.
